For the sci-fi contest: [link]

I didn't want to have some generic looking planet so I thought I'd do something a little different. The inspiration came to me while I was looking at a plasma ball at walmart. It started out as a 3D model which I used as a base for matte painting in photoshop.

And here I am thinking no more "heavy" competition wasn't going to be added lol. I have a plasma ball :XD: the rule. To me, this looks like some futuristic energy plant had exploded, cool effect with an orange sphere on the inside, and the blue layer further out 8-)

And nice buildings of course.

Very nice piece, how did you do the buildings, they are very reminiscent of the ones in the newer Starwars movies.
Love the plasma effect in the background, great eye candy.

i could see this as a definite DD too :P
it looks great. the ';planet' actually reminds me of the PowerSunBall thing from Spiderman 2 (i forget what they called it).
the city is amazing . i dont think its too overboard either :)
